Love Poems (an announcement)
The love poem is a remarkable invention. Its broad usage and interpretation make it both wholesome and contrived. Shy City House is excited to announce it’s in the process of creating and collecting submissions for a book of love poems. We encourage unorthodox approaches. Please submit up to five love poems to editor@shycityhouse.com for consideration. Those who are published in the book will share its profits.
For now, here’s the first (maybe unfinished?) love poem of the future:
Love Poem 1/Untitled
You were a lost dog
And I was a groveling fool
Chasing true love through a heart-shaped labyrinth
Your distant submission
Veneer of perfect effortlessness
The space between hours expanding
My relative mental indignation
To keep consuming time, you must
Remain a nail in my graceful crux
Gliding through the same condition
Without the slightest appreciation, despite your self-
Appointed position atop the world of moral tradition
What a mouthful you made
Acceptance speech dreams
Brought to life in vain
